This represents the progressive viewpoint within the Federation. The attitude that all beings should live in peace and harmony and can. That it is good to have friends and remember who your friends are. It is considered the opposition of the Guns & Butter viewpoint, but isn't really.
Gentlebeings want to spend their resources on exploration and diplomacy the better to find and make more friends. The way to be strong is to be open and welcoming.
Few people are all of one viewpoint and nothing of the other. Gentlebeing and Guns & Butter do not represent a zero sum axis. Some people try to cast in in that light.
This does not refer to any given party or group. There will be groups in the Federation, local parties that hold this viewpoint over Guns & Butter, but I do not see any Federation wide political bodies.
